Reinhard Gedack
Bevor Reinhard Gedack sich mit BuchSkulpturen beschäftigte, hat er viele Jahre als Produktionsleiter, Regisseur und Designer beim Film gearbeitet. . . und zwar hauptsächlich in der Werbung, wo Gestaltung darauf angelegt ist, möglichst ungewöhnliche und „ungesehene“ Bilder zu kreieren.
Er war auf zahllosen Dreh-Reisen weltweit unterwegs und konnte Eindrücke aufnehmen von allen Kulturen, denen er begegnete, von Kambodscha bis Brasilien, von den Aboriginals bis zu den Eskimos.
Die Kombination aus all diesen Erfahrungen und Fähigkeiten ist eine gute Voraussetzung für die Gestaltung dieser bisher kaum bekannten Form „Buch-Kunst“ oder „Kunst mit Büchern“ oder „Kunst aus Büchern“ (engl.: „Art made from Books“).

Before Reinhard Gedack became involved with BuchSkulpturen, he worked for many years as a production manager, director and designer in film. . . mainly in advertising, where design is aimed at creating images that are as unusual and "unseen" as possible.
He has been on countless filming trips around the world and has been able to absorb impressions of all the cultures he has encountered, from Cambodia to Brazil, from Aboriginals to Eskimos.
The combination of all these experiences and skills is a good prerequisite for the creation of this hitherto hardly known form of "book art" or "art with books" or "art made from books".
Reinhard Gedack interessiert sich insbesondere für die Vielschichtigkeit der Aufgaben.
Ihn fasziniert, wie Bücher neu gestaltet werden können, wie man den Inhalt analysieren, aufnehmen, verändern, weiterführen, zweckentfremden kann, aber auch, wie man mit der Form eines Buches spielen kann. Überhaupt liegt für ihn ein besonderer Reiz in einer spielerischen Kreation.
Jedes antiquarische Buch ist für ihn eine neue Herausforderung, jedes Mal das Streben, sein Upcycling noch schräger, ungewöhnlicher, verrückter zu betreiben, den Inhalt in anderer Weise darzustellen und etwas aus dem Buch zu machen, das neu ist, das aber gleichzeitig den Inhalt bewahrt.
Gedack is particularly interested in the complexity of the tasks.
He is fascinated by how books can be redesigned, how the content can be analyzed, taken up, changed, taken further, misappropriated, but also how one can play with the form of a book. In general, for him there is a special attraction in a playful creation.
Each antiquarian book is a new challenge for him, each time striving to make his upcycling even more weird, unusual, crazy, to present the content in a different way and to make something out of the book that is new, but at the same time preserves the content.
